New contract builds significantly on Wincanton’s existing five-year partnership with Marley Roofing Products, a division and recent acquisition of Marshalls.
Wincanton, a leading supply chain partner for UK business, has been awarded a new five-year contract with Marshalls, the UK's leading manufacturer of solutions for the built environment.
As a result of this first time outsource, Wincanton is now responsible for a major part of Marshalls national transport network, moving over 3.5 million tonnes of products per year.
The entirety of the Marshalls Landscape Products fleet will now be managed and operated by Wincanton, with Marshalls Landscape Products and Brick & Masonry subcontractors also managed by Wincanton. Mortars & Screeds, Civils & Drainage and Landscape Protection, alongside yard operations, will remain in-house at Marshalls.
EyeQ, Wincanton’s flagship digital transport platform, will underpin a data-led solution to deliver a fully managed transport service regardless of who owns the vehicles. The enhanced optimisation, visibility and reporting EyeQ provides will deliver better cost and sustainability outcomes for Marshalls.
The new partnership also builds on Wincanton’s contract with Marley Roofing Products, a specialist in pitched roof systems and a division of Marshalls, aligning the national transport network under one framework.
Up to 300 colleagues will transfer from Marshalls and join Wincanton’s team of over 20,300 colleagues as part of this partnership, and a phased migration of Marshalls sites to Wincanton will take place in the coming months.
Carl Hanson, Managing Director, Group Transport, at Wincanton commented:
“It is testament to the quality of our people and innovative technology that Marshalls has chosen to outsource its national transport network to Wincanton. EyeQ, our digital transport platform, will deliver quality, cost and sustainability benefits for Marshalls own and subcontractor vehicles.
“We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to Wincanton, as we accelerate Marshalls’ progress towards becoming the UK's leading manufacturer of sustainable solutions for the built environment.”
Simon Bourne, Chief Operating Officer, Marshalls plc, said:
“As our business has grown, so has the volume and complexity of items that we deliver and we’re at a point in our journey where we need to look at the future of this specialist area.
“Wincanton are a leading supply chain partner for many of the UK’s most recognisable brands and, as a long-term supplier to our roofing division Marley, we have an excellent opportunity to extend a highly successful relationship.
“By partnering with Wincanton, we will be taking advantage of their programme to invest in diesel-alternative fuel options, contributing to our sustainability goals. We’re also supporting our drive for continuous improvement for our customers, including improving delivery times, access to more specialist vehicles and consistent delivery tracking.”
