At Wincanton 'Operational Excellence' consists of 2 key programmes; the customer focused leadership model called '8 Principles' and 'Continuous Improvement' (CI). Both are championed by our General Managers and their teams across our sites and governed by our Operational Excellence team. 

8 Principles Framework

The 8 Principles Framework defines expectations and measures performance ensuring consistency and compliance across our sites. It enables all sites to perform and improve, supporting customer requirements, guided by expertise across Wincanton.   

Underpinned by Continuous Improvement (CI), this framework is evolving to ensure that our sites continue their journey of Operational Excellence. Our teams use the CI toolkit to drive action and facilitate change for our people, processes and the place in which they work. 

Continuous Improvement 

We have a strong network across Wincanton to support Continuous Improvement (CI)  on our sites. With standard ways of working we enable new sites to migrate to CI quickly and efficiently, sharing repeater projects. There is clear governance of CI projects through DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control), and we work with our customers to identify year on year benefit.

CI allows us to take advantage of automation and emerging technologies that can bring efficiency and productivity benefits. CI is for everyone.
